The LT Metal research center moved to Magok in 2021 to strengthen R&D. It built its differentiated capability step by step: first gold bonding wire and silver epoxy, both core semiconductor materials; then localized production in Korea of platinum materials and equipment for the glass industry; and finally independent development of the entire ITO target process, from raw powder to final finishing, for a key display material. On that accumulated technology, research now extends beyond precious metals into metals, ceramics, polymers, and other advanced materials, with a continuing push into high-value-added materials.
The LT Metal research center is where the materials future industries need are considered and researched first. Guided by customer requirements and market change, we develop core materials technology for semiconductors, displays, mobility, and energy, and create new value. On our expertise and research capability in precious metal materials, we engineer the essential materials of tomorrow and aim to be the center of technology innovation that drives LT Metal’s future growth.

The LT Metal research center engineers the company’s future through technology. We work on one conviction: our customers’ success is our materials’ success. Across energy, semiconductors, displays, and electrical and electronic systems, we research and engineer the materials industry cannot do without. Accumulated technology is the firmest foundation of LT Metal’s journey toward its first century.
Core strategic priorities
Three strategic priorities give this growth concrete direction.
Scaling development projects into business
We close the distance between research and business so that materials technology developed in the lab turns into real products and real revenue. The goal is R&D that starts from a customer problem and ends as an essential material on the customer’s production line.
Entering new markets
We extend beyond our established precious metal materials into fields where LT Metal’s technology can meet new industries and new customers. Hydrogen, secondary batteries, piezoelectrics, and polymer materials are how we are putting that into practice.
Strengthening R&D capability
We keep raising the capability to engineer materials itself. Analytical equipment, research talent, and intellectual property strengthen LT Metal’s technology competitiveness and build the research base for the century ahead.
Mid- to long-term goals
Expanding chemical product development,widening the field of essential materials
The LT Metal research center began with precious metals. But 'tomorrow's essential materials' are not made of metal alone. Chemical technologies — electrochemistry, piezoelectrics, polymers, and composites — matter more and more across semiconductors, energy, mobility, and medical industries. The LT Metal research center read this shift early. Chemicals account for about 36% of the current research portfolio, and we plan to raise that to around 50% over the mid to long term. LT Metal is holding its technology lead in precious metal materials while strengthening chemical materials capability, creating the new material value that future industries require.
