Plate Contacts

In the instant electricity makes and breaks, the material decides everything.

From milliamp signal relays to 100kV switchgear — engineered for every load.

Overview

Plate contacts are used in electromagnetic contactors, heavy-duty molded case circuit breakers, earth leakage circuit breakers, no-fuse breakers, ACB and VCB. Available materials include AgCdO, AgSnInOx, Ag-W, Cu-W and Ag-WC grades, and shapes include round, square and other special forms.

Classification by material

Classification by Material

AgCdO Group

AgCdO Group (post-oxidation process)

A contact material in which other elements (MOx) are added to AgCdO, giving excellent erosion resistance, breaking performance and contact resistance even in the high-current range, with stable temperature rise. The chemical composition shown excludes the Ag clad layer at the brazing area. Plate contacts are welded onto a copper, brass or steel shank when mounted; Silver is applied to the weld area of the contact to improve weldability during assembly.

Grade Composition (wt%) Hardness (annealed, Hv) Melting Point ℃ (solidus) Electrical Conductivity (%IACS) Applications
HE100A Ag90 MOx10 80 960 80 Light-load electromagnetic contactors
HE141 Ag85.2 MOx14.8 85 960 60 Molded case circuit breakers
HE151 Ag83.4 MOx16.6 95 960 55 Electromagnetic contactors, current limiters
HE161 Ag81.3 MOx18.7 100 960 50 Heavy-load connectors

AgSnInOx Group

AgSnO2InOx Group (post-oxidation process)

The chemical composition shown excludes the Ag clad layer at the brazing area. Plate contacts are welded onto a copper, brass or steel shank when mounted; Silver is applied to the weld area of the contact to improve weldability during assembly.

SJ06 Ag90MOx10 100 960 75

Ag-W Group

Ag-W Group

It combines the low contact resistance and high conductivity of silver with the hardness, arc resistance and erosion resistance of tungsten. It offers outstanding arc resistance and welding resistance in the high-current range.

Cu-W Group

Cu-W Group

Erosion is extremely low, giving good welding resistance and arc resistance. Its properties are similar to the Ag-W series, but contact resistance and re-oxidation behavior are somewhat inferior, and it is used in oil-immersed applications.

Ag-WC Group

Ag-WC Group

A sintered contact material combining highly oxidation-resistant, high-hardness WC with high-conductivity silver. Its contact resistance changes little and its welding resistance is excellent, so it withstands overload well and performs strongly in low-voltage, high-current applications.
